A 20-year-old Illinois man was arrested on Sunday, May 25 after police say he allegedly beat his mother to death inside a suburban Chicago apartment. The mother was identified as 43-year-old Elizabeth Peralta-Guadalupe,the Northlake Police Departmentsaid in a news release, adding that the woman was "viciously" killed. Police allege Larry Dorado killed Peralta-Guadalupe, his mother, inside the apartment in Northlake, a suburb just south of O'Hare International Airport. He was charged with one count of first-degree murder, according to the news release. Police said the woman was pronounced dead shortly after paramedics arrived at the apartment complex, finding her "severely beaten with no signs of life." Police interviewed multiple family members and those who were present at the apartment complex, detaining two people. On Tuesday, May 27, investigators determined that one of the two detainees was a witness while the other, Dorado, was a suspect. Information about Dorado's legal representation was not immediately available. He was set for a pre-trial hearing on Wednesday morning, May 28.
